Overview
Kier is recruiting a Senior Estimator to join our Construction team based in the Essex region, specifically Witham, Essex. The role is essential in creating profitable tenders and contributing to major regional projects within a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and estimate costs for tenders, identifying opportunities to minimise risk and maximise profit.
- Lead and mentor the estimating team, promoting best practice and collaborative working.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing whilst maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate with design, planning, commercial and bid management teams throughout the tender process.
- Support the handover of projects to delivery teams, ensuring a smooth transition and clear communication.
Qualifications
- Experience working with a main contractor or tier 1 contractor company.
- Proficiency in Excel, estimating software and take‑off tools such as Blue Beam.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a pre‑construction team.
- Experience supporting and developing junior team members.
- A conscientious, detail‑oriented approach to work and a passion for problem solving.
