About TH Plastics

TH Plastics is a specialist engineering business delivering bespoke ancillary solutions to plastics manufacturers across the UK.

We partner with leading European manufacturers including Moretto (Italy), Rapid Granulator (Sweden) and Crizaf (Italy), supplying technically robust systems for injection moulding, extrusion and blown film applications.

We’re a small, experienced team where technical quality, attention to detail and long-term customer relationships matter. Everyone works closely together — sales, engineering and service — to deliver solutions that perform in real production environments.


The Role

We’re looking for an engineer who wants to move into a more commercial, office-based role without losing the technical side of what they do.


This is not a typical sales role. You won’t be cold calling or chasing targets. Instead, you’ll sit at the centre of the sales process — taking real manufacturing problems gathered by our external sales team and turning them into engineered solutions and detailed quotations.


You’ll work closely with:

* External Sales Engineers
* Our Technical Manager
* European suppliers in Italy and Sweden


This role suits someone who enjoys solving problems, working with detail and taking ownership of technical decisions that directly impact projects.


Key Responsibilities

* Translate customer requirements into engineered solutions and quotation proposals
* Work with external sales engineers to define process requirements and system design
* Liaise with European suppliers to specify suitable machinery and obtain technical input
* Prepare detailed, accurate quotation packs and proposals
* Manage and update CRM and internal quoting systems
* Prepare and send formal offers to external sales engineers, with occasional direct communication to customers where required
* Communicate clearly with customers, suppliers and internal teams

This role requires a high level of accuracy — small mistakes at quotation stage can have real commercial impact, so attention to detail is critical.


What the Role Looks Like Day-to-Day

* Reviewing incoming enquiries and technical requirements
* Discussing applications with sales engineers and suppliers
* Building quotations and solution proposals
* Managing multiple projects and deadlines
* Communicating updates to internal and external stakeholders
* Running internal trials and presenting findings for customers

You’ll be office-based in Glossop, working closely with a small, experienced team.

* Has an engineering background (mechanical, electrical or similar)
* Enjoys technical problem-solving but wants to move away from hands-on/site work
* Wants to build a career in technical or commercial engineering
* Prefers working in a close-knit, collaborative team rather than a large corporate environment
* Is detail-oriented and takes pride in getting things right


What We’re Looking For

Skills & Attributes

* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* Comfortable interpreting technical information and specifications
* Clear communicator — written and verbal
* Commercial awareness and willingness to take responsibility
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities


Requirements

Essential:

* Engineering background or qualification (HNC, degree or equivalent experience)
* Good IT skills (MS Office, databases)
* Ability to commute to Glossop

Desirable:

* Experience in manufacturing, machinery or industrial environments
* Exposure to technical sales, estimating or applications engineering
* CAD or technical drawing experience


Training & Development

* Structured onboarding with product and industry training
* Direct support from Technical Manager and experienced team
* Training with European partners in Italy and Sweden
* Opportunity to develop into broader technical or commercial roles over time


Salary & Benefits

* £30,000 – £35,000 per year (depending on experience)
* 25 days annual holiday (Jan–Dec)
* Company pension scheme (salary sacrifice available)
