We're looking for a Head Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Amery Vets and take on a leadership role in our thriving 3 branch veterinary practice. As our Head Veterinary Nurse, you will play a key role in leading and supporting our nursing team, ensuring the highest standard of care for our patients. You'll have the opportunity to influence the development and improvement of clinical practices, mentor junior nurses, and work closely with the veterinary team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week over 4 or 5 days, including one in every three Saturday mornings until 1:30 PM. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the nursing team, providing guidance and support. Oversee patient care, ensuring best practice in all aspects of nursing care. Assist in the management of clinical and operational procedures, including stock control and clinical protocols. Perform a wide range of nursing duties, including surgeries, consultations, and inpatient care. Work closely with the Practice Manager, Clinical Director and veterinary team to improve operational efficiency and patient care. Who We Are We are a very well-established, 100% small animal practice located right next to the beautiful South Downs National Park, less than 1 hour from the coast, access to London via train and easy access to Gatwick and Heathrow airport. We have a varied case load, with no two days the same and we operate 15-minute appointments to allow time to work up cases as needed. We continually strive for excellence in management, medicine, and service to enrich and lengthen the special relationship between people and their pets. We have a visiting orthopaedic surgeon for the more challenging surgical cases. We are well equipped with digital x-rays and excellent ultrasound and dental equipment. We have a supportive and committed team of 6 Vets, 4 RVNs and 1 SVNs, 2 ANA and 6 Receptionists in our 3 well-equipped surgeries on the Hampshire/Surrey border. What We Are Looking For We are looking for a qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse with at least 2 years of post-qualification experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, with a passion for mentoring and developing a team. You should have excellent communication abilities and be able to work well under pressure. A keen interest in clinical practice and a commitment to delivering the highest standards of care is essential. Previous experience in a supervisory or senior nursing role is highly desirable.
