We’re looking for an engaging and operationally strong General Services Manager to lead retail, cleaning, and hospitality services on a busy workplace site. This role offers a varied mix of leadership, service delivery, and light food preparation responsibility. While this is not a chef role, the successful candidate will be comfortable preparing pre-packed hospitality items, assembling cold food, reheating delivered food, and supporting a small amount of basic cooking for hospitality menus. You will be accountable for service quality, client engagement, financial performance, and people leadership across all service streams, helping to create a professional, welcoming experience for all site users. About the Role As General Services Manager, you will take full ownership of the day-to-day operation across retail, cleaning, and hospitality. Acting as the key point of contact for the client and onsite teams, you’ll ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard. This is a visible, hands-on role that blends strategic oversight with practical involvement particularly within hospitality preparation during key service periods. Key Responsibilities Overall accountability for retail, cleaning, and hospitality services on site Lead and maintain a high standard of hospitality delivery, including: Preparation of pre-packed and cold food items Reheating of delivered food for hospitality menus Supporting simple, basic cooking tasks where required Build strong, trusted working relationships with the client and stakeholders Ensure all services operate in line with agreed KPIs, SLAs, and contractual standards Manage financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, and cost control Lead, motivate, and develop multi-skilled teams, driving engagement and performance Ensure full compliance with health & safety, food safety, and company procedures Oversee recruitment, training, rota's, and team development Identify and implement service improvements and efficiency opportunities Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for colleagues and visitors About You 3 years’ experience managing multiple soft service lines, ideally including hospitality and cleaning Comfortable supporting basic food preparation and hospitality service Strong leadership skills with experience managing operational teams on site Confident client-facing communicator with a customer-focused mindset Commercially aware with experience managing budgets and operational costs Well-organised, adaptable, and able to balance operational and administrative demands Knowledge of Health & Safety and Food Safety standards Food Safety, IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications desirable BICSc credential preferred A DBS will be required for this role 14Forty Compass Group UK&I is committed to fostering an environment where every individual can truly be themselves at work and has equal opportunities to advance in their careers.
