About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Quality Inspector / Engineer to join our team. This hands-on role is essential in upholding commitment to high-quality engineering. You’ll be responsible for inspecting products and equipment both in-house and at supplier sites, supporting our quality systems, and ensuring compliance with technical and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Product Inspection & Reporting
* Conduct detailed inspections of manufactured items and supplier sites.
* Verify conformance with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and contractual requirements.
* Mark items clearly post-inspection and raise any non-conformance issues promptly.
* Produce comprehensive inspection reports and upload them to the relevant contract folders.
Quality Management & Continuous Improvement
* Work closely with Engineering, Purchasing, and Contracts teams to resolve quality issues.
* Maintain and update inspection schedules to align with project timelines (using QC20).
* Identify non-conforming products and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.
System & Standards Compliance
* Support internal and external audits to ensure compliance with BS EN ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 & ISO 45001.
* Help maintain the company’s calibration system for measuring equipment.
* Create and implement bespoke inspection instructions for varied projects and components.
Supplier Management & Performance Monitoring
* Conduct incoming goods inspections as needed.
* Generate monthly supplier performance reports focused on quality and delivery (Excel-based).
* Liaise with suppliers to plan inspections, clarify requirements, and ensure expectations are met.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience in a quality inspection or engineering role, ideally within manufacturing or engineering sectors.
* Strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications.
* Competent in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with MS Visio and Adobe Acrobat is desirable.
* Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015. Audit experience is beneficial (training available if required).
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships across departments and with external partners.
* High attention to detail, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
Additional Requirements
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use (mileage reimbursed).
* Willingness to travel across the UK and abroad.
* Physically fit and agile to carry out inspections in challenging environments, including outdoor and elevated conditions (safety training and PPE provided)
