An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic and enthusiastic NHS Finance Team within the Scottish Ambulance Service. As the frontline of the NHS in Scotland and with over 5600 members of staff, we provide an emergency ambulance service to a population of over 5 million people serving all of the nation’s mainland and island communities.
Applications are sought from part qualified part-qualified member of one of the professional bodies studying for qualification or qualified by experience. The post holder will have experience within management accounts and significant practical experience (a minimum of five years), to diploma level at theoretical knowledge combined with knowledge of financial and accounting procedures and financial aspects of NHS legislation and NHS finance policies.
The role of the Management Accountant will join a Small Management Accountants team reporting to the Senior Management Accountants
The purpose of the job is the preparation of budgets, forecasts, monthly financial statements and to provide effective financial management advice to operational and departmental managers.
This involves detailed analysis and interpretation of spending patterns and trends to ensure that a break even outturn is achieved at the end of each financial year and that any freedoms allowed under the Operational Departments are appropriate and comply with the Service’s Standing Financial Instructions.
The post holder will be confident to communicate complex financial information which might be contentious in nature. This may be in relation to budgets, financial statements queries, year end queries.
