Job Description
Currently we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced forensic psychiatrist to lead secure mental health services, providing strategic clinical leadership and recovery-focused care for individuals within the criminal justice system.
Salary: Up to £170,000. Position: Forensic Consultant Psychiatrist. Hours: Full Time. Setting: Medium and Low Secure Forensic Services. Location: South Wales, NP13.
Responsibilities
* Act as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act
* Lead psychiatric assessments, formulations and treatment planning
* Provide specialist reports for tribunals, courts and Ministry of Justice
* Offer expert advice to probation, prisons and MAPPA
* Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated forensic care
* Contribute to clinical governance, audit and quality improvement
* Support service development and supervise junior medical staff
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent with full GMC registration
* CCT or CESR in Psychiatry and MRCPsych
* Approved Clinician status under Section 12 MHA
* Minimum five years’ postgraduate psychiatric experience, with 2 in forensic/secure
* Significant experience within forensic mental health settings
