Overview
We are looking for a Senior Therapeutic Radiographer to join our friendly multi-professional radiotherapy team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. Torbay delivers a range of techniques, including Lung and Bone SABR and is actively engaged in research with both commercial and non-commercial trials. You will be joining at an exciting time when we will be commissioning and installing SGRT on both our linacs and RT-CT scanner. In addition we are working towards implementation of a new electronic patient record which will go live in 2026. You will be joining our caring, committed, and innovative team in beautiful South Devon.
You will work as part of a team on the linear accelerators providing safe and accurate radiotherapy treatment. The post holder will also rotate through pre-treatment to include RT-CT and pre-treatment data entry.
Responsibilities
* Provide safe and accurate radiotherapy planning and treatment to patients to a broad range of tumour sites.
* Support the team leader in the day-to-day management of patient workflow, assisting in the organisation and management of the clinical workload.
* Be flexible to meet the service demands.
* Provide exceptional patient care at all times.
* Work with a department that uses Elekta VERSA Linacs, Mosaiq Oncology Management System, Pinnacle Treatment Planning System (TPS), Limbus AI OAR outlining software and Canon Aquilion CT Scanner (installed in 2024); participate in clinical trials.
* Collaborate with a team including Support and Information Radiographer, Urology Specialist Radiographer, and Colorectal/Gynae Specialist Radiographers who are independent prescribers; engage with the oncology research and development team and the award-winning late effects service project.
* Contribute to future plans such as implementing SGRT (Summer 2025), upgrading Mosaiq (end of 2025), EPIC implementation (Spring 2026), selecting and commissioning a new Treatment Planning System, and preparing for back-to-back Linac replacement programs.
Qualifications
* Completion of Preceptorship period or appropriate previous experience at band 5.
* Robust general knowledge of CT anatomy.
* Able to communicate complex condition/treatment-related information requiring empathy, sensitivity and reassurance (to patients and carers).
* Acquiring patient images/outlines using CT and dosimetry.
* Reflective and self-appraising.
