What You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will work closely with the Architect Design and Spec Manager, producing high‑quality technical drawings and coordinating design information. Your contributions will support new store developments, refurbishments, fit‑outs, and roll‑out programmes, ensuring that our designs are not only creative but also practical and compliant.
Key Responsibilities
* Technical Design & Documentation: Create detailed technical drawings and construction‑ready documentation for retail and clinical projects, ensuring compliance with buildability and performance standards.
* Design & Construction Knowledge: Develop layouts and technical details for new stores and refurbishments, preparing accurate construction information that reflects retail‑specific requirements.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including architects, project managers, and contractors, to ensure smooth project delivery and alignment with design intent.
* Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs adhere to building regulations, planning policies, and health & safety requirements, while maintaining awareness of industry trends and innovations.
* Quality & Documentation: Maintain exceptional attention to detail in all drawings and specifications, supporting the creation and upkeep of project documentation and design guidelines.
* Site & Project Support: Assist with site surveys and resolve site queries through updated technical details or clarifications.
What You'll Need to Have (Our Must‑Haves)
* Technical Competence: Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction legislation, with proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
* Communication & Stakeholder Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and manage expectations effectively.
* Personal Attributes: Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and adaptable, with a proactive approach to problem‑solving and collaboration.
* Clean UK Driving Licence: Required for site visits and project coordination.
It Would Be Great If You Also Had
* Experience in retail, commercial, or fast‑paced multi‑site environments.
* Familiarity with landlord approval processes, planning applications, and building control.
* Understanding of brand implementation and customer‑focused design.
* Experience supporting roll‑out programmes or standardised design systems.
