We are looking for a Health Economics Adviser to join our team. The health economics adviser is responsible for ensuring the technical quality of the economic and modelling related outputs of the Guidelines programme, and providing economic and modelling advice and support to internal and external guideline developers. We are looking for someone who has/is: • Familiar with methods of critical appraisal and the interpretation and synthesis of health economic research evidence • Extensive experience of developing and critiquing health economic models and analyses • Ability to deliver high quality technical outputs without supervision to agreed deadlines • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences and to generate trust and confidence in individuals at all levels both within and outside the organisation • Experience in line management and supervision of technical staff Main duties of the job The post holder will review and quality assure the work of guideline developers, supporting other members of the methods and economics team on economic technical issues. In addition, the post holder will support the surveillance function for identifying updates to NICEs guidelines. The post holder will contribute to the training and development of staff and Guideline Committee members on economics, as well as input into economic methodological developments for the Guidelines programme. Person Specification Qualifications • Masters degree or Doctorate and further specialist training (economic analysis/modelling) or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through experience and further training/development Experience • Experience of economic or mathematical modelling Skills • Ability to analyse and critique economic models. Knowledge • Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a range of economic analysis and modelling procedures and practices Knowledge • Extensive knowledge of the principles of economic analysis, evidence-based health care, critical appraisal and the interpretation of health research evidence.
