We have a new and exciting role at the Target Discovery Institute, Nuffield Department of Medicine for a Laboratory and Building Assistant. You will support the Deputy Building and Facilities Manager to help maintain services required to ensure the effective and smooth running of the laboratories and building. Your main duties will be to provide a high level of customer service at all times, including handling and resolving enquires from building users, both face to face and via e-mail whilst maintaining a high standard of Health and Safety and service to the building users. Work with the Deputy Building and Facilities Manager, to undertake regular building checks and proactively identifying areas for improved presentation or requiring maintenance, assisting with minor re-decorations and moving of Laboratory equipment or furniture. It will be important to always ensure compliance with Health & Safety and report any failures, near misses, spillages, breakages etc. in a timely manner to the Building and Facilities Manager. It is essential that you are educated to GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent qualification and are competent in the use of MS Office packages. Technical knowledge and experience in building repairs and maintenance is essential, along with knowledge of current Health & Safety requirements within a practical research environment. Formal Health and Safety training, e.g. biological safety, manual handling, compressed gases awareness is highly desirable.
