Summary
An opportunity has opened for a Project Manager within our SSE North Scotland business to lead small teams installing electrical power distribution and transmission systems from 11kV to 132kV. The role focuses on delivering safe, profitable, high-quality, and fit-for-purpose networks that meet customer needs and enhance the company's reputation.
The Project Manager will oversee their projects and supervise staff managing multiple electrical network projects concurrently. These projects may include installation of ground-mounted and structure-mounted power system components, cable systems, switchgear, transformers, busbars, relay panels, and associated equipment in substations operating at up to 132KV.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading multiple project managers and teams, reporting to the Operations Manager, to build confidence and promote business growth.
* Providing leadership, guidance, and support to project teams and stakeholders.
* Ensuring health and safety compliance, undertaking site supervision roles as required, including managing customer-appointed contractors and subcontractors.
* Managing multiple projects efficiently, overseeing allocated tasks, and developing direct reports.
* Organizing and controlling resources—materials, equipment, and labor—for ongoing projects.
* Maintaining good commercial awareness, managing valuations, and ensuring project documentation is complete and accurate.
Qualifications and experience:
* HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Operational knowledge of electrical power distribution systems.
* Site safety passport and experience working on CDM sites.
* SSSTS or SMSTS certification is desirable but not essential.
* Possession of SSE DNO authorization or equivalent for PTW management.
