Qualified Social Worker – Family Safeguarding

Are you a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Worker passionate about safeguarding children and supporting families? Bolton Council is seeking committed professionals to join their Family Safeguarding Team — and we’re looking for someone just like you.

About the Role
In this frontline safeguarding role, you will:
1. Work with children and families subject to Child in Need, Child Protection, Pre-proceedings, and Court processes
2. Undertake Child & Family Assessments, using professional analysis and judgement to plan effective interventions
3. Ensure the safety, welfare, and long-term outcomes for children at risk of harm
4. Build strong, trusting relationships with families to support meaningful and sustainable change
5. Prepare detailed reports and attend court proceedings as required
6. Work collaboratively with other agencies to deliver coordinated support in line with statutory guidance
Who We’re Looking For
You will be:
7. A Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England
8. Experienced in Child Protection, Court Work, and working with vulnerable families
9. Skilled in assessment, planning, and direct work with children and families
10. Knowledgeable in current Child Protection legislation and safeguarding frameworks
11. An excellent communicator, able to work confidently across agencies and with families
12. Reflective, proactive, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children
Key Requirements
13. Minimum 3 years’ post-qualifying experience
14. Strong understanding of the challenges facing children at risk of abuse or neglect
15. Ability to manage a varied caseload while meeting statutory deadlines
16. Experience preparing high-quality reports for courts and reviews
17. Confidence in using social care systems and contributing to team development
