Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Contract Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in Derby. This role centres around the enhancement and optimisation of manufacturing processes for high-integrity and safety-critical components used in nuclear programmes, including the UK Submarine programme, existing nuclear generation fleet, decommissioning, and new nuclear establishments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and optimise manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and quality
* Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure product manufacturability
* Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in the nuclear sector
* Prepare key technical documentation such as process flow diagrams and work instructions
* Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
Job Requirements:
* Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline
* Experience in the manufacturing sector, ideally within the nuclear industry
* Knowledge of welding, joining technologies, and non-destructive testing (NDT) requirements
* Proficiency in CAD and SAP (Systems Applications and Products)
* Experience in precision fabrication, particularly with nuclear-grade materials
* Understanding of design codes and industry standards relevant to the nuclear sector (e.g., ASME Section III)
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
