Merri-bek City Council is seeking a full-time permanent General Operator to work in our Street Cleansing team. The successful candidate will work in accordance with developed rosters and work practices, including starting times that may vary from 3:30am to 7:30am.
Responsibilities include general cleaning throughout the municipality, removal of dumped rubbish, litter, dead animals, and sharps, sweeping of shopping centers, residential streets, bus shelters, and footpaths, and litter bin collection. The General Operator will be required to complete training in the use of street sweepers, footpath sweepers, combo trucks, pits, and drain cleaning, as well as other identified training within the unit.
To be successful in this position, you must have a current Victorian Drivers Licence with Medium Rigid Endorsement, demonstrated experience in driving trucks in built-up areas, and operating a range of small plant and equipment. You must also have demonstrated experience in providing a high standard of street cleansing and/or related maintenance programs.
