Early Years Educator

Full Time Post: 37.5 hrs over a 9‑day fortnight – Mon to Fri.
Location: Wendy House Nursery, Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath.
We are seeking a qualified Early Years educator (Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Early Years, with experience working with children under five). The post holder will support a ‘Key Group’ of 2‑3‑year‑old children and plan EYFS‑based activities.
Our nursery, inspected by Ofsted (Good), is open daily from 07:00 to 18:00 and offers excellent annual leave and NHS pension benefits.
Job responsibilities
* Work alongside colleagues to deliver a high‑quality childcare service in a safe and stimulating environment.
* Plan and deliver an effective EYFS curriculum that supports children’s interests and developmental stages.
* Maintain daily routines across indoor and outdoor learning areas and the local community.
* Engage children in creative and sensory play.
* Act as a Key Worker for a small group of children, supporting their care and educational needs.
* Observe and assess children’s progress, carrying out individual assessments.
* Provide caring support and clear communication with parents/carers, appreciating diversity.
* Be flexible and adaptable, managing a varied shift schedule that may include early and late shifts.
* Spend time in outdoor environments, facilitating learning outdoors.
Travel to Haywards Heath and flexibility to cover a variety of shifts is essential.
Qualifications and experience
* Childcare qualification (NVQ Level 2 or 3) or Level 2/3 Diploma in Early Years.
* Experience working with children under five, including young toddlers and babies.
* Experience with parent partnership and working within a team environment.
* Knowledge of Early Years milestones, safeguarding and child protection, and diversity/equality practice.
* Awareness of health, hygiene and safety procedures in the workplace.
* Experience as a Key Worker for a group of children.
* Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
* Experience in other Early Years settings and with SEND children is desirable.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
