At Velstar, we help ambitious eCommerce brands turn insight into measurable growth. We’re looking for an Optimisation Consultant to lead conversion optimisation activity across a portfolio of clients, combining data, UX insight and experimentation to drive real commercial impact.
This is a client-facing, hands‑on role for someone who understands how people behave online and knows how to turn that understanding into meaningful improvements in performance.
The role
As an Optimisation Consultant, you’ll act as the subject matter expert for CRO within a cross‑functional squad. You’ll define and deliver structured testing programmes, uncover conversion opportunities, and translate insight into clear, actionable recommendations.
Alongside client delivery, you’ll contribute to Velstar’s wider optimisation capability, supporting pre‑sales, shaping best practice, and helping evolve how we approach experimentation and experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Designing and executing structured A/B testing programmes with clear hypotheses and measurable outcomes
* Identifying conversion opportunities through UX analysis and eCommerce best practice
* Using quantitative and qualitative data to uncover insights and inform optimisation decisions
* Defining success metrics and ensuring testing is statistically robust and commercially meaningful
* Managing test pipelines to ensure efficient delivery and clear client visibility
* Interpreting results and translating findings into actionable recommendations
* Reviewing customer journeys to identify friction across key conversion points
* Collaborating with UX/UI designers to ensure recommendations are practical and effective
* Working closely with data and analytics teams to support deeper insight and tracking
* Presenting findings, progress and recommendations confidently to clients
* Managing expectations around testing scope, timelines and outcomes
* Supporting pre‑sales activity and contributing to proposals and new business conversations
* Identifying upsell and cross‑sell opportunities within client accounts
* Contributing to the development of optimisation methodologies, tools and standards
What we’re looking for
You’re a data‑driven, commercially aware optimisation specialist who enjoys testing, learning and improving performance. You’re confident working with clients and collaborating across teams to deliver measurable outcomes.
You’ll Likely Have
* Proven experience delivering CRO programmes in an agency or eCommerce environment
* Strong knowledge of A/B testing methodology, including hypothesis creation and statistical analysis
* Experience with leading CRO tools and web analytics platforms
* A solid understanding of UX, eCommerce design patterns and conversion principles
* Confidence analysing data and turning insight into clear recommendations
* Strong communication skills, including presenting to clients
* The ability to manage your own workload and deliver consistently
* A collaborative mindset and proactive approach to problem‑solving
* A strong commercial awareness and focus on delivering measurable value
Nice To Have
* Agency experience within eCommerce
* Familiarity with Shopify or similar platforms
* Experience supporting pre‑sales or new business activity
* Ability to annotate designs or wireframes to communicate test ideas
* Basic understanding of HTML, CSS or JavaScript
