The successful candidate will oversee the operation and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure for Data Centers (DC) in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud regions. They will operate and maintain world‑class mechanical and electrical infrastructure, oversee facility operations and safety procedures.
The role requires a motivated, self‑managed individual who demonstrates initiative, proactively seeks solutions to problems, and strives for operational excellence. The work follows a process‑oriented approach and requires a strong willingness to learn new processes and adapt to rapidly changing operational scenarios with conflicting priorities.
Key Job Responsibilities
* Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world‑class safety culture.
* Ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams.
* Own safety initiatives and projects to foster a strong safety culture.
* Operational experience and familiarity with electrical and mechanical equipment, including UPS, Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, ATS, Diesel Generators, Chillers, HVAC, Exhaust Fans, VFDs, and Transformers.
* Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
* Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log‑taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.).
* Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance.
* Perform manual handling and lifting of equipment as required.
* Work shifts (morning, late, and night) and participate in on‑call rotation for off‑duty emergency calls.
Basic Qualifications
* High school or equivalent diploma.
* Knowledge of mechanical systems (mechanical, HVAC systems, controls).
* Knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in data center engineering.
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or similar technical focus.
