Overview

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a Nursing Assistant in Plastics Outpatients at Wythenshawe Hospital. The closing date is 30 September 2025.

Are you looking for a new challenge in a busy outpatient environment? Do you want to work in a renowned regional centre for Plastic Surgery? If so, you could join the Plastic Surgery Outpatients team at Wythenshawe Hospital. We are seeking a motivated Nursing Assistant, ideally with experience in an outpatient setting, to join our friendly team. This is a challenging but rewarding role, so you need to be enthusiastic and eager to learn. You will be joining a large, dedicated multi-disciplinary team focused on improving patient outcomes in this specialism.


Main duties of the job

* Being supervised by Registered Nurses, you will assist the Nursing team in delivering the high standard of patient care you would expect for yourself and your loved ones.
* Your duties involve supporting patients in completing their clinic appointments with the best possible patient journey experience.
* Ensuring patient flow is maintained throughout the department.
* Offering chaperone services where required.
* Engaging with the MDT to ensure clinics run to time and engaging with patients to feedback on their experience within the department.


On the Job Training Opportunities

On joining MFT, if you are new to working in healthcare, you will be supported to develop your knowledge and skills through our Support Worker Development Programme for Nursing Assistants, which includes the opportunity to progress into a Band 3 Nursing Assistant role on completion.

If you are an experienced Nursing Assistant, you will undertake a skills analysis on start to ensure you meet the required skills for your role. If gaps are identified, you will be supported to access relevant clinical skills modules to progress to a Band 3 post on completion. Evidence of prior learning will be reviewed and considered.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Holds National Care Certificate or be willing to undertake and complete within 12 weeks of starting.
* Level 2 Apprenticeship in health care or gain equivalent knowledge and skill through the Trust Clinical Support Worker Development Programme.
* Holds Functional Skills Level 1 Maths and English or education equivalent.


Knowledge

* Experience working in a healthcare, social care setting or service industry requiring people contact.
* Experience of working within a health care environment.


Skills

* Good communication skills (written and verbal).
* Able to work as a team.
* Able to carry out well defined routine tasks.
* Able to work on own initiative, following direction and supervision by a Registered Healthcare Practitioner.
* Able to relate well with patients, relatives, visitors, colleagues, the multi-disciplinary team and wider Trust staff.
