Job Overview
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, efficient, and enthusiastic Office Administrator to join Thomas Telford Primary Free School. The ideal candidates will be friendly, professional, and respectful, with a strong commitment to building positive relationships with children, parents, governors, staff, and visitors. They must have the ability to work on their own initiative and work effectively as part of a team. This is a fast‑paced and varied role that demands excellent communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills, along with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
Experience and Background
Experience of working in a school environment, and especially knowledge of school management systems and attendance procedures is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. We also welcome applicants with strong administrative backgrounds from other sectors. This post is a designated customer facing role under the fluency duty and requires a specified level of spoken English as stated in the person specification. The school is committed to safeguarding children and young people. All successful candidates are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check with barred list (for regulated activity posts) as well as other pre‑appointment checks outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education (September 2024), such as an online check, suitable references, ID checks, and proof of qualifications (where appropriate). This post also requires checks under the Childcare Disqualification Regulations and Childcare Act 2006, which includes a criminal record self‑disclosure form to be completed and returned prior to interview.
