Glen Lyn Care Home is a small family run care home in Minehead. The current owners/managers have been providing care for Older People for the past 33 years. We are looking for a friendly and dependable individual to join our team on a time basis
JOB SUMMARY
· To contribute to meeting the assessed needs of people living in the home under the supervision of senior staff.
· To participate in the delivery of a safe, responsive, effective and caring service.
· To be an effective member of the care team working supporting each other in accordance with best practice.
Overall responsibilities of our care staff members :
· To develop and maintain skills and knowledge that ensure people's individual care is delivered according to latest guidelines, best practice evidence available and to an indivdualised support plan
· To ensure the ongoing safety of residents, staff and visitors by following the systematic assessment, monitoring and reviewing processes of the home.
· To participate in the maintenance of clear and accurate records and communication systems relating to people's care delivery.
· To promote the professional image of the services through excellent communication, appropriate behaviour and professional appearance within the home and in the community.
Specific responsibilities and duties:
· To provide support and care for people and promote residents' safety and dignity in the form of wellbeing and safety checks through the day
· To participate in evaluating individual care plans for people living in the home. To undertake training and maintain competence in the use of the Log my Care system.
· To provide personal care in accordance with individual care plans with the aim of enhancing people's social, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
· To assist residents with personal care including continence care ensuring support is given safely and sensitively according to the organisations Policy and Procedures.
· To assist people to maintain their personal appearance in ways that promote their choice, comfort and dignity.
· To help people with mobility problems and other physical disabilities including the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
· To establish a rapport with the residents and develop an awareness of the individuals' needs and preferences. Communicate these to team leaders and senior staff.
· To encourage and support people to maintain their optimum level of independence and mobility. Where necessary use appropriate aids and appliances to achieve physical comfort.
· Actively promote the maintenance of healthy skin integrity by minimising the adverse effects of pressure and inactivity on the body.
· To take and record observations of temperature, pulse, blood pressure and oxygen monitoring after training, a period of supervision and agreed competency
Administer prescribed medication after training ,a period of supervision and agreed competency.
Assist with therapeutic activities and escorts for social and medical appointments
Carry out housekeeping tasks as per cleaning rota,
Ensure residents clothing and linen is laundered, ironed and returned to the correct owner.
