Provide process engineering support for manufacturing processes at the Speke site. Ensure processes operate in a safe and compliant manner. Ensure process equipment is maintained in a qualified state. Through continuous improvement activity, improve and optimise production processes by increasing efficiency, reducing/eliminating waste and reducing variability in line with customer needs and to ensure customers receive products on time in full.
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications)
* Chemical Engineering or equivalent technical degree.

* Chartered Chemical Engineer (IChemE chartered member) or working towards
Key responsibilities and areas
* Develop Technical Knowledge
o Develop a deep technical understanding of the process including awareness of good manufacturing practices, customer requirements, process flow, safety critical operations and control strategy.
o Explain how the equipment set impacts the control strategy.
o Understand fundamental theory of each unit operation.
o Maintain mass and energy balances and understand pinch points.
o Understand key process safety and environmental safeguards.
o Document work and learning in technical documents (PFDs, technical reports); understand process cost structure and its impact.
o Complete periodic reviews and updates of technical documents as required.
* Process Support
o Represent the Technical Operations function at Process Team huddles, Technical Operations huddles and accountability meetings.
o Investigate and complete deviation investigations using root cause analysis and other techniques.
o Partner with QCL, QA, engineering, operations, and scheduling to deal with day-to-day issues including production, supply, deviations and complaints.
o Support internal, external and customer audits as a technical SME.
o Provide technical coaching to Technical Operations and Process Team members.
* Safety and Environmental
o Champion Process Safety Management (PSM) processes (including COMAH, DSEAR and Elanco high risk processes as applicable).
o Facilitate/lead PHRs and implement recommendations where necessary.
o Maintain Process Safety Information (PSI packs).
o Investigate safety and environmental incidents.
o Help maintain site IPPC permit and understand releases to air, sewer and ground.
* Process Improvement
o Own and implement process changes to maintain or enhance safety, product quality, yield and throughput in line with business and customer needs while ensuring no detrimental impact to SISPQ or customer commitments.
o Work with site functions to identify improvement opportunities for discussion and alignment with the customer.
o Own improvement activities and implement them following site change management processes and customer agreement where applicable.
o Coordinate and execute plant trials to improve/optimise the process.
o Work with the PMO to identify and prioritise change activity.
* Capital Projects
o Develop user requirements for capital projects involving process equipment and establish requirements with stakeholders.
o Be the Process Team point of contact for capital projects to maintain strong communication with Project Team and PMO.
o Provide input on commissioning and qualification requirements and participate in commissioning activities as required.
o Work with Project Team and PMO to ensure timelines and milestones are met with clear escalation of risks.
* Feed Safety
o Process engineers supporting products or areas subject to Feed Safety will support/own deliverables related to Feed Safety Management as required.
o Process engineers supporting products or areas in scope of Feed Safety shall be a member of the HACCP team.
* Establish External Contacts and Develop Professional Expertise
o Obtain and maintain Chartered Engineer status with the IChemE.
