Role Summary

Tritech Group are manufacturing experts and suppliers of precision products to global Aerospace & Defence industry giants and to support our rapid growth we are recruiting for a range of positions across our UK facilities.


Working Hours

0800 – 1630 Monday to Thursday, 0800 – 1330 Friday

Lead Engineer – Responsibilities

The Lead Engineer is responsible for managing the applications engineering team. Responsibilities include:

* Ensuring NPI projects are complete to time, cost, and quality targets.
* Industrialisation of parts to meet on‑going customer demand rates, RFT, and cost targets.
* Continuous improvement of the engineering functions, and of production processes.
* Managing and assisting with projects as project lead or sponsor.
* Driving root cause corrective and preventative actions, and lessons learned.
* Liaising with machining engineering teams to ensure whole‑route focus.

The employee will willingly undertake, upon request, any other task they are able to perform. Elements of the role may vary as new technology, procedures and equipment are introduced.


Key Responsibilities


New Product Introduction (NPI)

* Lead and participate in delivering new part introduction projects.
* Manage introduction of parts through gated review process in line with APQP methodology.
* Support sales targets by ensuring timely project completion.
* Ensure part processes are ready for serial production at rates required.
* Ensure output meets target requirements for right first time, and production costs.
* Capture lessons learned and ensure read across to applicable products and processes.


Scrap Reduction and Quality Control

* Identify high‑scrap products and specify/drive improvement of processes to reduce waste.
* Liaise with Quality to address findings from scrap review meetings.
* Ensure processes generated by engineering include controls to ensure on‑going repeatability.
* Lead Design for Manufacture (DFM) activities to build in quality and capability.
* Support FMEA activities and quality improvement initiatives.
* Liaise directly with customers on technical discussions.
* Communicate throughout projects to ensure information is passed to customers in a timely manner.
* Lead key activities such as DfM, drawing/spec reviews, change requests with customer engineering teams.


Continuous Improvement

* Drive a culture of continuous improvement.
* Lead targeted initiatives to improve key products.
* Drive improvement projects through use of DMAIC and Lean tools.


Health and Safety

* Ensure compliance with all site‑specific risk assessments, safety policies, and PPE usage.
* Report near misses and safety concerns promptly.
* Contribute to a safe working environment by ensuring machinery and tools are used appropriately.


Person Specification

The successful candidate will be a proactive and technically knowledgeable leader who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment. A strong communicator and problem‑solver, they will bring hands‑on experience in leading teams, ideally within aerospace, defence, or precision engineering industries.

* Proven ability to lead teams within an engineering environment.
* Strong understanding of new part introduction and industrialisation processes, including APQP and PPAP.
* Confident working cross‑functionally with Production, Quality, Planning, and Design.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills to engage colleagues at all levels.
* Detail‑oriented, organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
* A self‑starter with a continuous improvement mindset.


Essential and Desired Qualifications

* Degree in an engineering discipline.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience of a technical manufacturing environment.
* Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
* Experience in NPI and process control within aerospace sectors.
* Good understanding of engineering controls, drawings, and specifications.
* Strong knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and techniques, including Six Sigma, Lean and DMAIC.
* Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
* Aerospace or Defence industry experience.
* Experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.
* Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and engineering documentation control.


Package on Offer

* Pension: 5% min personal contribution, Company contribution of 3%.
* Life Insurance: 2 x annual salary Death in Service.
