Experienced Business Development Engineer required for Precision Engineering company based in Plymouth. Working within Customer Application Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting customers and regional sales teams, facilitating the development of new business, the subsequent introduction of new products, and continuously developing an understanding of the applications and markets in which our client operates. The successful candidate must be prepared to travel, as this role will involve both UK and International travel on a frequent basis.
Key Responsibilities will include:
* Act as the technical-commercial interface with the customer, ensuring customer requirements are clearly understood, assessed, and translated into deliverable solutions.
* Represent the company at customer meetings, industry events, and international exhibitions, acting as a brand ambassador and technical advisor.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and prospects to uncover new opportunities and increase customer satisfaction.
* Analyse and interpret customer specifications to support the development of bespoke product proposals and ensure alignment with application needs.
* Collaborate with export control teams to classify products under UK export regulations
* Support the early-stage design process by coordinating the creation of technical documentation, such as product specifications and customer delivery drawings, working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams.
* Initiate and coordinate quotation processes for customised enquiries, aligning closely with Sales and Engineering to deliver accurate, timely, and competitive proposals.
* Support and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes relating to customer engagement, product development, and project handover.
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required:
* MEng or BEng First Class or Upper Second Class Honours in Mechanical Engineering or similar related Engineering discipline.
* Experience of Manufacturing processes and technologies ideally within precision engineering.
* Practical, working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD methods, particularly SolidWorks.
* Experience and knowledge in the functional and operational characteristics of rotating machinery from an application perspective.
* Six Sigma Green Belt.
