Title: Accounts/Payroll Assistant Type: Temporary (approx. 3-4 months) Hours: Full Time (Mon - Fri) Salary: £16.00 - £17.00 per hour Location: Grantown/Hybrid Overall Purpose: The purpose of the role is to assist with the payroll and pensions service and to support the Financial Accountant with monthly accounting processes and with preparations for the year-end and the annual audit. Duties include: Payroll and Pensions Assist with all payroll and pensions processes, including: o Delivering accurate, timely monthly payroll for all staff and Board members o Delivering accurate, timely tax returns and payments to HMRC o Delivering accurate, timely pension returns and payments to all pension providers o Delivering all year end payroll, tax and pension returns o Managing delivery of all agreed payroll services to external clients Assist with the delivery of payroll models, meeting HMRC tax and other requirements. Assist with responsibilities towards all pension providers. Assist with the provision of efficient and effective payroll bureau services for partner organisations Financial Accounting and Annual Accounts Support the Financial Accountant with corporate accounting, the preparation of financial accounts and working papers, and the external audit process. Create and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Support the Financial Accounting with month end processes such as calculating and posting prepayments, and capitalising assets. Calculate and submit project accounting claims to external funders. Support the external auditor in their interim fieldwork, providing documentary evidence as required. Provide ad hoc analysis and forecasting as required. Maintain the data required for annual carbon reporting. Provide support to areas of work including development of data models and data analysis. Person specification: knowledge, experience and training: ESSENTIAL Experienced payroll and accounts. Must have excellent numerical skills and substantial, proven experience of using excel spreadsheets and manipulating financial data and figures. Demonstrable capacity to analyse information and to present the results of that analysis in a clear and accessible manner. Demonstrable aptitude and skills to deliver payroll and pensions administration services. Must have experience of handling confidential information, and respecting and adhering to that confidentiality. Excellent communication skills verbal, written and presentational. IT skills competent user of the standard Microsoft suite of products. DESIRABLE Knowledge of and experience in using Access Payroll and Accounting packages (Access Financials). Knowledge and experience of running an organisational payroll and managing all associated tax and other returns. Knowledge and experience of administering a pensions scheme, preferably the Civil Service Pension Scheme.
