ABOUT THE JOB

We are seeking a House Project Facilitator to support the delivery of the Newham National House Project, working directly with approximately 12 young people aged 16+ who are preparing to leave care. You will help them develop the skills, confidence and independence needed to transition successfully into adulthood and sustain their tenancies.

You will ensure they have maximum ownership of the project and maintain active membership to achieve positive outcomes. This role involves working innovatively and flexibly in a solution focused and empowering way. This is a physically active and highly relational role, involving group activities, residential trips, and close collaboration with young people and professionals across housing, education, employment and health services.

ABOUT THE HOUSE PROJECT


The National House Project is a youth-led initiative that supports care-experienced young people to move into their first home and thrive. Over the course of a year, young people co-design their journey, build life skills, and receive ongoing support post-graduation.

ABOUT YOU

Key Skills:
- Developed communication, interpersonal and influencing skills in a variety of contexts with young people,. one to one, group discussions and formal meetings, with the aim of achieving consensus, decisions, team commitment and good outcomes.
- Ability to form positive relationships with young people which facilitate positive personal development, involving them in decision making at every level.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, such as schools, training providers, Youth Service, social care and Health, to progress ideas and proposals and solutions.
- Ability to negotiate with external stakeholders and with the young person. around housing options and provisions.
- Ability to work effectively on your own initiative, manage your own time and achieve challenging outcomes to tight deadlines, whilst also being aware of when to refer issues to the Project lead.

- Good problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and plan accordingly.

Qualifications and /or experience:
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification or experience, demonstrating that level of applied knowledge in providing advice and support to young people.
- A strong working knowledge of national policy and legislation regarding children’s social care.
- Substantial experience working with young people in social work, youth work or education settings.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work relationally with young people and collaboratively with professionals.

You’ll be:
- Committed to co-production and youth empowerment.
- Skilled in assessing young people’s needs holistically and safeguarding effectively.
- Able to work flexibly, creatively and tenaciously to achieve positive outcomes.
- Comfortable with a physically active role, including participation in group activities and residential trips.
