Scope / Purpose of Role: A varied and exciting role for an experienced Manufacturing Manager who is motivated by developing and growing an operational team to deliver pace, quality, plan delivery and OEE. Ultimately the role holder is accountable for the following; managing and developing the team, championing continuous development and coaching to ensure excellent performance standards day to day management of relevant operational area ensuring efficient and effective performance in production, quality, health and safety, and service targets driving and delivering measurable continuous improvement Reports into: Factory Manager Direct Reports: Production Operators, Team Leaders, Shift Leaders Key Stakeholders: Head of Operations, Factory Manager, Other Manufacturing Managers, HR Business Partner, Department Trainers, Logistics, Engineering, Hygiene, Technical, New Product Development, Procurement Key Result Areas: Quality, Health & Safety, Hygiene/Food Safety, and Environmental GMP: Manage all aspects of the above areas associated with the production process, in line with company standards, best practice and current Health and Safety Legislation and quality standards as well as 5s. Plan Attainment and Area Performance Manage and deliver the daily, weekly production schedule and area performance targets through Shift Leaders and their teams Lead shift review meetings on all KPIs Ensure progress and performance boards are updated in a timely manner Input into the asset care and preventative maintenance systems. Plan Delivery and Labour Management Ensure the assigned production area is appropriately resourced, including people, facilities, raw materials and packaging to ensure delivery of all targets in line with the weekly plan Accountable for approval of payroll processes e.g. overtime Key Performance Indicators: Role holder must consistently embody the Mowi Values & Leadership Principles and work in accordance with the Mowi Code of Conduct. Health and Safety Qualification, e.g. Supervising Safely, NEBOSH. Lean Six Sigma (?? Belt) or equivalent experience working with the methodology Skills: Evidence of strong leadership skills in managing people. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels, ensuring information is delivered and understood Ability to drive change through positive communication, employee involvement and forward planning Ability to drive and build strong levels of employee engagement Developing staff through continuous development, coaching and empowerment to create improved performance Area Objectives: Lead the setting of all elements of the production area objectives for the financial year. Deliver the objectives with the Shift Leaders and operational team by ensuring project completion and performance management Perform daily walking tours as part of role profile and feedback on corrective actions and opportunities to improve upon Leadership and Performance Management: Lead, manage and develop the Shift Leaders to create an open and honest culture. Manage the performance of the production areas through the Shift Leaders individual performance review and personal development plans to achieve the area strategy. Proactively manage employee issues as and when required Ensure compliance with HR policies, employment law, SEDEX and ETI Basecode e.g. Working Time Regulations Operational Training: Responsible for developing and coordinating a training needs analysis, training evaluation of all the operational training activities. Responsible for developing a training matrix to be delivered through department trainers ensuring employees are appropriately and sustainably skilled supported by HR Planning: Pro-actively contribute to the preparation of daily plan, including feedback of efficiency and yield performance to deliver most accurate daily / weekly plans. Pro-actively contribute to the NPD process through active participation in pre-pro trials through to launch Continuous Improvement: Work with direct reports and colleagues, encouraging cross departmental involvement, to manage operational improvement and share best practice. Work with Operational Excellence Manager to find solutions to minimise down-time, costs and improve operational efficiency, productivity and yield Technical Knowledge: Provide technical advice and guidance to operational team to maintain adherence to technical specification'. Cost Control & Budgeting: Deliver operational budgets. Customer: Liaise with external & internal contacts to ensure supply of services/products to meet operational requirements in a timely way. Work with key stakeholders to deliver new product launches Ability to understand value stream and drivers for the customer and marry this with the business Targets and Reporting: Meet all KPI targets e.g. waste, labour control, yield and giveaway Provide accurate daily and regular reporting Rework Downgrade Claim Submission (internal & external) By Product Control • Budgets & Cost Control Focus on two hourly, daily performance GMP Audits Delivery of Area Objectives and associated projects, individual performance objectives and personal development plans. Evidence of a sustainable engaged workforce in terms of documented regular communication forums (two-way briefings), management of absenteeism, productivity and motivation levels. Ability to deliver under pressure; and flexibility within time management to ensure business needs are met. Able to take the initiative and push projects forward; solutions-focused. Able to challenge at all levels, using appropriate manner and behaviour to encourage positive change. Disciplined approach to organisation, administration and project management. Ability to build positive working relationships quickly to engender positive cross functional working and deliver cross functional improvement plans Experience: Operational experience in fast moving consumer goods, preferably chilled Demonstrable track record of leading and delivering high-level performance through excellent people management in an operational shift environment. Experience of using trending, root cause analysis and problem-solving tools to continuously-improve performance. Good working knowledge of production engineering processes and "best practice".
