Job Summary
Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust (LGT) are offering sponsorship for qualified Nurses and Midwives to complete the SCPHN qualification at level 7, to become a School Nurse. The post is fully funded by NHSE, and successful candidates will be paid AFC Band 6 (Annex 21). Candidates must be NMC registrants, hold a Level 6 qualification at 2:1 or above, demonstrate study at level 7 in the previous 2 years, and be able to commence the programme in January 2026 at Greenwich University. The role is based at Kaleidoscope, 32 Rushey Green, London SE6 4JD.
It is an exciting time to contribute to 0-19 children’s services in SE London. The SCPHN leads on the Healthy Child Programme, Universal Services, and targeted interventions for families with the greatest need. LGT is invested in Public Health Nursing development and offers a training programme across PHN roles.
Recruitment Process: The post is subject to Occupational Health clearance and an enhanced DBS check.

Interview Structure
* Two-part interview: Group Discussion on an unseen topic, and Individual Interview with a 5-minute presentation. Details provided upon shortlisting.

* Pay scheme: Agenda for Change, Band 6 (Annex 21) – £43,401 per annum incl. HCAS, depending on experience.
* Contract: Fixed term, 12 months, Full-time.

Eligibility Criteria & Requirements
* NMC Registration – Current registration for nursing or midwifery, OR evidence of application with confirmed registration within 2 months of start date.
* Educational Qualifications – DipHE (or above) with 120 credits at Level 5, OR equivalent; Postgraduate Diploma Route A 2:1 Honours Degree is required.
* Eligibility to Work in the UK – Must have legal authorization to work in the UK.
* Application Submission – All sections of the application form must be fully completed according to guidelines.
* Literacy & Numeracy – Numeracy Level 1-2 (GCSE), Literacy Level 3-4 (A-level) or equivalent.
Desirable & Essential Qualities
* Essential: Current NMC registration (or confirmed registration within 2 months); evidence of DipHE level 5 or higher; knowledge of public health nursing; safeguarding knowledge; ability to work within multidisciplinary teams; fitness to practice; literacy and numeracy proficiency; knowledge of quality, audit, and clinical governance.
* Desirable: Evidence of CPD at level 6; experience of supervising staff and working with less supervision.
