Job Overview
Consultant Cardiologist – Full‑time, 10 programmed activities (PAs) at Aintree Hospital, part of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Salary: £109,725 – £145,478 per annum. Permanent position with approximately 10 sessions per week; on‑call frequency about 1 in 10.
Responsibilities
* Deliver comprehensive cardiac care across the Trust.
* Develop and expand your sub‑specialty interests within the Cardiology Service.
* Attend ward/ACCU rounds (AM and PM) and review sessions as per the contractual plan.
* Provide outpatient clinics: 2 PAs per week covering general cardiology, heart failure, arrhythmia, and imaging.
* Participate in sub‑specialty sessions (Cath lab, pacing list, imaging or device clinic).
* Attend A&G/RAS triage, MDT meetings and governance activities.
* Teach, supervise, undertake CPD, audit and quality improvement work.
* Perform administrative duties and provide on‑call session‑in‑lieu as required. The definitive job plan will be agreed with the Clinical Director after appointment.
Qualifications
* MRCP or equivalent.
* Full registration with the GMC and entry on the Specialist Register within 6 months (CCT, CESR or European Community Rights).
* Signed off for sub‑specialty interest.
* Higher research degree or in process of obtaining one (desirable).
Experience
* Wide experience in elective and emergency cardiology in the UK to the standard expected of CCT.
* Evidence of practice at consultant or suitable sub‑consultant/senior SpR level for a reasonable period.
* Expertise in a sub‑specialty field.
* Previous fellowships, teaching experience and audit experience (desirable).
Other
* Research and publications relevant to the role.
* Presentations at national and international meetings (desirable).
