We are currently looking for a dedicated Admin Officer to join the Royal Courts of Justice for a 3-month Summer project supporting the London Civil and Family. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the smooth operation of the court system.
Location: Royal Courts of Justice, Strand Central London
Contract Type: Temporary till 30/09/2025
Start Date: after security checks
End Date: 30/09/2025 with potential to extend
Salary: £14.75 per hour (with benefits including pension scheme and holiday pay)
Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00) Fully on Site 5 days
Key Responsibilities:
The Surge Team at the London Civil and Family Court provides flexible support to manage high workloads or staffing gaps. Their main duties include:
* Case Management: Assisting with case progression, issuing claims, and processing court orders.
* Admin Support: Managing files, updating systems (e.g., CE-File, FamilyMan), and handling data entry.
* Court Listings: Helping schedule hearings and allocate courtroom resources.
* Customer Service: Responding to enquiries from the public and legal professionals via phone, email, and at the counter.
* Digital Support: Aiding in the use of online systems and supporting remote hearings.
* Backlog & Projects: Helping reduce case backlogs and supporting reform initiatives.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to manage data effectively.
* Exceptional organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
* A positive attitude and a professional approach to working in a high-pressure environment.
* Strong communication skills, particularly via telephone, with the ability to engage with both internal and external stakeholders in a court setting
* A self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
Additional Information:
* A DBS check will be required prior to the start of the role. We will assist with processing this.
* Candidates will be subject to security checks (which take 2-3 weeks) before their start date. All start dates are dependent on the completion of these checks.
