About the role
It is our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but you may also work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12). The availability windows you will be expected to cover are listed below.

* Friday: 12:00:00 – 23:00:00
* Saturday: 05:00:00 – 23:00:00
Shift Leader Rate of Pay
Rate starts from £14.76 an hour, increasing to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments such as overtime or hazard may apply depending on location.
Responsibilities
* Work in a fast‑paced retail environment, ensuring a clean, well‑stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
* Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver excellent service.
* Be present for customers, listening to their needs and ensuring they leave satisfied.
* Seek ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving constructive feedback.
* Guide and support colleagues on‑floor, maintaining a safe environment for staff and shoppers.
* Keep a clear understanding of store performance and assist managers in implementing improvement actions.
* Lead by example, setting high standards for conduct and customer care.
* Coordinate the store team to deliver an easy, fuss‑free shopping experience for customers.
* Support colleagues, ensuring daily priorities are met and breaks are taken.
* Open and close the store and manage duty cover, making decisions that safeguard the store and staff.
* Serve as the go‑to person for day‑to‑day queries in the manager’s absence.
* Ensure the store is always clean, tidy and well‑presented.
* Assist managers with seasonal, community and charity events.
* Contribute to a positive team atmosphere that includes everyone.
* Maintain up‑to‑date communication with the team regarding changes or updates.
* Stay knowledgeable about store performance and look for opportunities to streamline operations.
* Coordinate store improvements and remove obstacles that hinder service.
* Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues comply.
* Recognise and celebrate colleagues who provide great service.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Must be 18 or over to apply for this role.
* Excellent customer service orientation, meeting every customer’s needs.
* Strong relationship‑building skills with colleagues to create an inclusive, high‑performance team.
* Clear communicator, comfortable using multiple channels to keep the team informed.
* Comfortable with leading and overseeing the store in the manager’s absence.
