Highway Maintenance and Area Technician Role
Norfolk County Council is seeking an Area Technician to support winter and emergency planning, focusing on local service delivery across four divided areas, each with an area office led by an Area Manager. The role involves working closely with depot teams, managers, staff, partners, and road workers to ensure effective highway maintenance and network management, including projects like the Broadland Northway and new development supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with sector teams to deliver highway maintenance services.
* Manage work collation, create documentation, liaise with contractors, and oversee multiple work streams through spreadsheets.
* Respond to emergency situations such as flooding or winter conditions, which may require work outside normal hours.
* Travel to various locations for customer service requests, including areas not accessible by public transport.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Experience in highway maintenance and/or construction preferred but full training will be provided.
* Excellent communication and customer care skills, with experience dealing directly with the public.
* Highly organized with a methodical approach to problem-solving.
* Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize workloads effectively.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
