At B P Collins, we advise developers, contractors and commercial clients on construction disputes with a clear focus on protecting commercial position and resolving issues efficiently. Our work covers payment and final account disputes, delay and disruption claims, defective works, termination issues, and claims involving contractors, subcontractors and professional consultants. We act across the full dispute lifecycle, including adjudication, negotiation, mediation and, where required, litigation in the Technology and Construction Court.
Our approach is strategy‑led and commercially grounded. From the outset, we focus on the outcome our clients need, the cost of achieving it, and the most effective route forward—whether that is securing a quick decision through adjudication, resolving matters pragmatically through negotiation, or pursuing a more formal process where necessary. In practical terms, we stabilise situations, create leverage and guide disputes to a controlled, commercially sensible outcome aligned with wider commercial objectives.
As our construction disputes practice continues to grow, we are looking to appoint a Senior Associate (8+ PQE) to strengthen our already busy and well‑established Dispute Resolution team of 24. This is a key hire, forming part of a considered expansion to support increasing demand while maintaining the quality and strategic depth of our work.
What this role offers
* This role is suited to a seasoned solicitor who is already operating within contentious construction and is looking for greater ownership, client exposure and progression within a commercially focused disputes team.
* You will take the lead on a varied caseload of complex construction disputes, acting for developers, contractors and commercial clients. You will manage matters end‑to‑end across the full dispute lifecycle, including adjudication, mediation and litigation in the Technology and Construction Court, taking responsibility for overall strategy, delivery and outcome.
* Alongside running your own matters, you will play a central role in shaping dispute strategy—advising clients on live project issues, assessing risk at an early stage, and determining the most effective route to resolution. This will include advising on whether to pursue adjudication, negotiate a commercial settlement or escalation to formal proceedings, always with a focus on achieving the right commercial outcome.
* Where necessary, you will work closely with experts, counsel and clients, leading day‑to‑day relationships and acting as a trusted adviser. You will also supervise and support junior solicitors, contributing to the development of the wider team, and collaborate across the firm on matters that sit at the intersection of construction, property and commercial disputes.
* There is a clear opportunity to contribute to client relationship development and business growth, whether through supporting pitches, strengthening existing relationships or building your own network over time.
Who we are looking for
* We are keen to speak with solicitors who are building towards senior leadership within contentious construction and are comfortable taking ownership of complex disputes.
* You will have strong experience advising on disputes arising from construction contracts, including JCT, and matters involving defective works, payment claims, delay and disruption, and liquidated damages. Experience of adjudication, mediation and High Court / Technology and Construction Court proceedings is expected.
* You should be confident managing your own caseload, communicating directly with clients, and making sound commercial judgements on how disputes should be progressed. An ability to supervise junior team members and contribute to a collaborative team environment is important.
* We are particularly interested in individuals who take a pragmatic, solutions‑focused approach, and who are motivated to play a visible role in the continued growth and development of the practice.
What We Can Offer You
* Competitive and transparent remuneration package, including salary, profit share, private healthcare, life assurance, and 25 days’ holiday increasing to 30+, alongside employer pension contribution.
* Flexible, hybrid working model supported by a well‑connected, collegiate office environment, giving you the balance to work effectively while remaining closely involved with your team and clients.
* Genuinely collaborative culture, where partners are accessible, teams are lean, and you are given early responsibility with the support needed to develop with confidence.
* Clear and structured progression, with a focus on long‑term development rather than short‑term targets, supported by regular training, exposure to high‑quality work, and ongoing insight into market and legislative developments.
* Consistent emphasis on wellbeing, ensuring you can sustain high performance over time without compromising balance.
