Overview
Class Teacher Required for Spring 2026
Great Oaks College is a specialist independent college for young adults with Special Educational Needs. We are relocating to two new sites in Sunbury-on-Thames (Surrey) and Hounslow. The college provides further educational opportunities to students aged 19-25 with moderate, severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties, many of whom also have other needs such as physical disabilities, sensory impairments and autism. We run three Pathways: Vocational, Life and Living and Engagement for Life.
Pathways and provision
Vocational students are working towards the development of skills they need to prepare for paid employment. In addition to a core curriculum focusing on functional Maths and English, PSHEC and daily living skills, students have access to lessons including Horticulture, Catering, Café, Retail and Facilities. Students also access external work placements in the community.
Life Skills Pathway focuses on developing day-to-day life skills such as cooking, home management, shopping, travelling, and developing communication and social skills, alongside functional literacy, numeracy and ICT.
Engagement for Life Pathway supports students to develop communication, understand cause and effect and environmental control, build meaningful relationships and maintain physical ability.
