Envirolab, part of the RSK Group have an exciting full time opportunity for an experienced Analytical Chemist to join their team based in their laboratory in Hyde, Greater Manchester, UK.
Envirolab is an analytical laboratory with an outstanding track record for delivering analysis competitively and on time. The company provides environmental analytical services predominately of soil and groundwater samples.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out technical work in accordance with Envirolab procedures, when training record reflects competency, as assigned by Laboratory Manager.
* Ensure all work completed is according to UKAS and Envirolab QMS requirements.
* Calibration of all laboratory equipment – balances, dispensers, pipettes.
* Work within the confines of Envirolab’s safety policy paying due regard to the requirements for protective clothing at all times.
* Carry out and document regular instrument maintenance.
* Process, calculate and check analytical results
* Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the laboratory.
* Train and assess other staff in Envirolab procedures.
* Report any anomalies or QC chart irregularities to the Quality Manager, and accurately record such information.
* To recommend changes in all procedures or working practices where there are either errors or where recurrent problems occur.
* Carry out routine QC reviews.
* Carry out regular SHEMS inspections.
* Any other duties deemed reasonable for this position
