Spacecraft Production Operator - Contract
The Spacecraft Production Operator is responsible for the assembly, integration, and testing of spacecraft payloads and active antennas.
Responsibilities
1. Health and safety: Comply with production area health and safety requirements and practices, including handling of hazardous substances in accordance with COSHH requirements.
2. Mechanical integration: Assemble payload equipment, connectivity items (coaxial cables and waveguides), test instrumentation (thermocouples, heater circuits, accelerometers), DC harnesses (connector mating and de-mating), MLI (templating, tailoring, fitting), structural components (inserts, riv-nuts, panel repairs), and wiring activities.
3. Technical documentation: Interpret schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, 2D and 3D general assembly drawings, technical notes, and integration procedures.
4. Electrical testing: Perform automated test sequences using payload test systems, manual RF measurements of payload equipment and subsystems, and electrical integration, based on test procedures and schematics.
5. Test performance: Check payload equipment performance against specified parameters, review results for non-conformances.
6. Workspace standards: Maintain workspace including 5S policies, process confirmation, and tool control.
7. Team performance: Contribute to team activities such as Kaizen and SQCDP.
Essential
* Experience in a production environment related to mechanical assembly or electrical/RF testing.
* HNC or HND in an engineering production or maintenance field.
* Apprenticeship in aerospace/space or other high-quality production or maintenance fields.
Contract duration: minimum of 6 months. Work options include PAYE or Umbrella inside IR35.
