Following any required training to achieve HCPC registration, the candidate will be expected to complete competency to work individually carrying out duties such as validation of results, maintenance, running and troubleshooting of equipment and automation, stock management, performing EQA and IQA, performing manual tests and blood film morphology. Once trained you will be committed to supporting the 24/7 out of hour’s service.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Completed Accredited BSc in Biomedical Science
2. Registration with HCPC.
Experience
Essential criteria
3. Demonstrable experience of working in Haematology, Coagulation and Transfusion
4. Experience of working in a UKAS and MHRA approved laboratory
5. Desire to complete IBMS Specialist Diploma in Haematology with Hospital transfusion practice.
Technical Skills Competencies
Essential criteria
6. Good interpretive skills at bench level
7. Good attention to detail and accuracy
8. Basic computer skills
9. Knowledge of common IT software
10. Handling biological specimens
Desirable criteria
11. Familiarity with database and spread sheet software.
12. Familiarity with Quality Management Software
13. Familiarity with Winpath software
Knowledge
Essential criteria
14. Willing and able to learn new skills.
15. Currently participating in CPD
Desirable criteria
16. A good understanding of Haematology/ Coagulation and Transfusion Science
