Position Overview:
West Midlands Police are seeking to appoint an Assistant Chief Constable to oversee the Local Policing portfolio.
We seek an Assistant Chief Constable with substantial Crime Investigation experience to enhance our investigative performance. Experience in leading policing operations, a key part of our Force Executive responsibilities, is preferred. Our force serves over 3 million diverse residents, including a high proportion of ethnic minorities and young people under 25.
Candidate Profile:

A collaborative leadership style, ability to deliver strategic change, and a track record of building trust are essential. The candidate should have experience in sustaining performance improvements and fostering continuous improvement within complex organizations.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Completion of the Strategic Command Course prior to 2024, or
* Completion of the Police Leadership Programme (PLP) Stage 5 (Executive Leaders), or
* Completion of the national development centre and PLP - Stage 5, or
* Completion of the national development centre and achieving the national standard for entry onto the PLP, with completion expected within 12 months (appointment on a temporary basis until completion).
Applicants must meet one of these criteria as outlined by the College of Policing for chief police officer appointments.
