A well-motivated, conscientious person is sought to work in a busy and developing Orthopaedic Outpatient Dept. The post will allow the individual to enhance their existing knowledge in a varied clinical setting. Duties will include applying casts (training will be given), assisting with manipulations, carrying out various dressings, and dealing with pre- and post-op elective and trauma patients. Willingness to undertake the BCC (British Casting Course). A good communicator is essential.

Main duties of the job
* Depending on experience, take charge of a group of patients/clients with guidance and supervision from the Nurse in charge.
* Coordinate the work of healthcare support workers, assistant practitioners, students, and preceptorship nurses in delivering nursing care.
* Supervise healthcare support workers, assistant practitioners, students, and preceptorship nurses, and participate in their education and development.
* Maintain confidentiality with sensitive information, including staffing, financial, and patient issues.
* Record patient's property in compliance with Health Board Policies and protocols.
* Contribute to service development through team and department meetings.
* Use physical and financial resources effectively and efficiently.
* Recognize own limitations and escalate concerns to a senior staff member when necessary.

Qualifications
* NMC Registered Nurse
* Intermediate Life Support certification if required in clinical setting
* POVA
* Evidence of post-registration study and training
Experience
* Post-registration experience in an appropriate clinical area
* Experience providing holistic nursing care
* Understanding of clinical governance framework
* Ability to implement evidence-based practice
Skills
* Good organisational skills
* Effective negotiation and communication with patients and multidisciplinary team members
* Understanding of contract of care
* Accurate documentation skills
* Knowledge of incident reporting policies
Knowledge
