Job Description:
Job Title: Endur Technical Architect
Location: 60/40 with 3 days in Canary Wharf OR remote anywhere in UK
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length/End Date: 31st December with possibility of extension
Working hours: 40 hrs/week
Role Overview:
Work directly with subject matter experts, product owners, designers, technical leads, and other architects to re-architect and design the next-generation Gas and Power trading platform using modern technologies, aligned with business and technology strategies. Deep knowledge of energy trading and risk management processes across front, middle, and back-office functionalities, with an emphasis on physical trading.
Responsibilities:
* Design the architecture of modern, bespoke energy trading systems, including documenting and agreeing on key design decisions and trade-offs with stakeholders.
* Gather requirements, analyze, and design across functional, non-functional, technical, and operational domains.
* Act as a thought leader and key advisor in design reviews and delivery.
* Handle business changes and manage stakeholder expectations.
* Coordinate communication across multiple teams, vendors, and consultants.
* Understand deal lifecycle processes.
Qualifications and Key Skills:
* Strong understanding of physical trading, preferably in Gas and/or Power, including complex contract optionality, portfolio, and schedule optimization. Knowledge of options modeling and dependency graphs.
* Experience with data modeling for transactional and analytic use cases, real-time reporting, data migration, and reconciliation. Familiarity with MongoDB.
* Hands-on experience with architecture and design patterns, including documentation of design trade-offs for commodity trading systems. Familiarity with AWS services, C#/Java, Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, React, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
* Experience with integration techniques such as real-time messaging (AMQ), API design (JSON, Swagger), and batch processing.
* Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, automated deployments, cloud infrastructure, grid computing, and cost optimization.
* Understanding of Agile methodologies.
* Ability to work independently or in small teams, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Must have experience with microservices architecture, cloud hosting (AWS), and full lifecycle physical energy trading, ideally in power and/or gas markets.
