Intervention & Pastoral Support Teacher – Year 7 Location: Bishop Auckland | Full-Time | September 2025 Start | Full Academic Year | £25-£30 per hour dependent on experience We’re working with a supportive secondary school in Bishop Auckland looking to appoint a dedicated Intervention Teacher to support their new Year 7 cohort from September. This full-time role spans the full academic year and blends academic intervention with pastoral care to help students settle, progress, and thrive. Perfect for someone who understands that Year 7 is more than a transition—it’s a foundation. You’ll be part teacher, part mentor, helping pupils build confidence, fill learning gaps, and feel at home in their new setting. Your role will include: Delivering small group and one-to-one academic interventions (particularly in literacy and numeracy) Supporting students with emotional and social adjustment to secondary school Working closely with pastoral teams, SENCOs, and parents to support each child holistically Tracking pupil progress and helping remove barriers to learning What you’ll need: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent Recent experience working in a UK school setting A flexible, empathetic approach and excellent relationship-building skills Passion for supporting vulnerable or lower-attaining pupils, especially during school transition Desirable: Experience in intervention, nurture groups, or pastoral-focused roles Thrive trained (or willingness to complete our free CPD) What Protocol Education offers: ✅ Weekly PAYE pay—no umbrella fees ✅ FREE CPD including behaviour and wellbeing-focused training ✅ Local consultant support and streamlined registration ✅ Full safeguarding and compliance processes in line with KCSIE Apply now to support the next generation through one of their most pivotal school years—or contact our North East team for more details.
