Job Title: Lead Teacher of Science

Salary: MPS 1- 6 - UPS + TLR 1a

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Location: Oasis Academy Brightstowe, Shirehampton, Bristol

Start Date: 1st September 2025

Closing Date: 22nd June 2025 (midnight)

Oasis Academy Brightstowe is seeking a Lead Teacher of Science to join our thriving secondary school community from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to lead, grow, and innovate in a department full of potential.

The Role

As Lead Teacher of Science, you will:

1. Lead the Science department, driving improvements in teaching, learning and outcomes
2. Model outstanding classroom practice and provide mentoring and coaching to colleagues
3. Deliver targeted CPD and interventions that raise attainment and close gaps
4. Champion inclusive, evidence-informed teaching approaches for all learners
5. Support the wider leadership team with curriculum development and strategic planning
6. Be a visible and approachable leader, fostering a love of Science across the Academy

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who:

7. Has students' best interests at the heart of everything they do
8. Has strong subject knowledge and a track record of outstanding teaching in Science
9. Is experienced in leading Science provision and raising attainment
10. Can design and deliver effective CPD, mentoring and coaching for staff
11. Has knowledge of SEND and effective adaptive teaching strategies
12. Builds positive, professional relationships with students and staff
13. Has energy, optimism and drive, with high expectations for all learners
14. Is aligned with the Oasis ethos of equity, inclusion and high aspirations
