Overview
Crown Court Admin Officers are responsible for management of criminal digital files in preparation for hearings involving correspondence and general enquiries. The Crown office handles enquiries from criminal justice agencies, solicitors, barristers and the public via post, email, telephone and face to face. They deal with a full range of serious criminal work as well as management of jurors. You will be assigned to teams to carry out a variety of general administrative duties to progress cases through the court/tribunal system or provide support to other functions within HMCTS.

* Manage criminal digital files in preparation for hearings and respond to enquiries.
* Provide proactive and effective support to customers by phone and email, with a friendly and approachable manner, excellent attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Organise time effectively, prioritise, multi-task, and adapt to using various software packages in a busy environment.
* Work in an office-based, customer-facing role to provide HMCTS services to the public.
Working Arrangements
Standard full-time working hours are 37 hours per week. HMCTS welcomes part-time, flexible and job-sharing working patterns where they meet the demands of the role and business needs and are agreed prior to appointment. Applications for part-time working would be considered, however, the minimum hours would be 30 hours per week over 5 days. The MoJ offers hybrid working arrangements where business need allows, with a minimum expectation to spend 60% of working time in an office (subject to local estate capacity).
Skills and Qualifications
Required: customer service experience, administrative and IT experience, attention to detail, communication and organisational skills. You should be able to deliver proactive support by phone and email, stay organised, and adapt to different software packages in a busy environment.
Visa and Right to Work
Skilled Worker Visa: From 22 July 2025, the Government increased the salary threshold and skills level for Skilled Worker visas. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for sponsorship for first-time applicants. If you have held a Skilled Worker visa continuously since before 22 July 2025, eligibility will be assessed in accordance with immigration rules. You must have the legal right to live and work in the Civil Service and the United Kingdom.
