Junior Maintenance Technician

This is a great opportunity to join a well-established production site that values reliability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. You’ll be supporting the Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager to keep machinery running safely and efficiently across a busy processing facility.
You’ll gain exposure to planned maintenance, basic fault-finding, machine adjustments, and site engineering systems — ideal for someone early in their maintenance career.
Junior Maintenance Technician Key Responsibilities:
Carry out routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery and site equipment.
Support the engineering team with basic repairs, adjustments, and day-to-day engineering tasks.
Provide engineering cover during shifts and follow escalation processes for more complex issues.
Work closely with Production Supervisors to keep machines running efficiently and minimise downtime.
Contribute ideas to help reduce engineering downtime and improve machine reliability. Skills & Experience Required as a Junior Maintenance Technician:
Engineering apprenticeship, college training, or practical experience in a mechanical/maintenance environment.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay organised on a busy shift.
Comfortable working with tools, carrying out checks, and assisting with basic fault-finding.
A proactive and reliable approach with a willingness to learn from experienced engineers.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both engineering and production teams.
Competent recording information and maintaining accurate digital logs. This role would suit a Trainee Maintenance Engineer, Engineering Assistant, Apprentice-Trained Technician, or mechanically minded Machine Operator looking to step into a dedicated maintenance role within a supportive manufacturing business in Peterborough — easily commutable from Spalding, Wisbech, Stamford, Huntingdon or March.
