Summary of the Asset and Compliance Engineer role
We are looking for an Asset and Compliance Engineer to join our Engineering team in Cramlington. Within this role, you will be responsible for planning and scheduling asset inspection and testing in line with, but not limited to, current PSSR, LOLER, LEV, COSHH, COMAH, Legionella and asbestos management to statutory and regulatory requirements.
Your responsibilities
* Adhere to the Sterling lockout/tagout (LOTO) and permit-to-work procedures
* Implementation and continuous improvement of site wide Engineering compliance programs within a GMP regulated environment.
* Subject matter expert (SME) for statutory and non-statutory Engineering inspections ensuring adherence to UK legislation, company standards and regulatory expectations.
* Lead the preparation, coordination and representation during HSE, FDA, MHRA and ISO audits.
* Oversee contractor performance, inspection scheduling and permit to work systems upholding high safety and compliance standards.
* Close collaboration with Safety Health and Environmental teams to align operational safety objectives.
* Develop and implement improved compliance tracking and documentation platforms for enhanced audit readiness.

Requirements for the role
* Demonstrate an understanding of governance of current Statutory Engineering Compliance and associated systems.
* Operate effectively both independently and as an integrated team member
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Audit leadership and internal audit experience desirable but not essential.
* General understanding of the chemical / Pharmaceutical industry is desirable, but not essential.
* Capable of prioritising, scheduling and executing statutory inspection in a fast-paced environment.
* Self-motivated with a can-do attitude.
* Working knowledge of PID’s and Hazardous area standards.
* Can demonstrate the ability to appropriately respond to situations with the necessary level of urgency.
* Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
