We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced person to join a developing team.
As a Senior Public Health Practitioner you will provide public health expertise to support our health protection partnership, as part of a small team working across Swansea Bay University Health Board. This post will implement components of our Swansea Bay Health Protection Annual Plan, working in partnership with key stakeholders, to deliver our health protection priorities in line with the National Health Protection Framework and our Population Health Strategy.
Main duties of the job
1. Plan, develop, implement and evaluate a range of public health, specifically health protection programmes in line with the Health Board Population Health Strategy, to meet identified needs and priorities contributing to health protection, health improvement and reduction
in health inequalities.
2. Build and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders, partner organisations and communities to promote and improve the
population’s health and wellbeing and achievement of health protection and population health priorities.
3. Provide public health expertise and health protection advice to a range of audiences including as part of working in partnerships with
different sectors, including local communities, as part of protecting and improving the health and wellbeing of the population, with a
focus on addressing health inequity.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
4. Masters or equivalent knowledge in Public Health or allied discipline or evidence of equivalent professional qualification in health protection or environmental health.
Desirable criteria
5. Registered, or working towards registration, with the UK Public Health Register (Practitioner Registration).
6. Registered Practitioner with active SCPHN Registration or EHRB
Experience
Essential criteria
7. Experience in the application of public health practice and skills in the domains of health protection, health improvement or healthcare public health
8. Experience of working across a number of organisations / sectors and/or with a number of programmes, including development, managing and evaluation of significant elements of work.
9. Experience of working with communities using community development principles/methods.
10. Evidence of continuing professional/personal development.
Desirable criteria
11. Experience of working in thematic/topic areas related to this role.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
12. Knowledge and understanding of the determinants of health and health inequalities
13. Information and knowledge-management skills
14. Critical appraisal skills.
Desirable criteria
15. Relevant experience and knowledge of EPRR.
16. Information management and an understanding of health-related data and its interpretation.
