Manufacturing Engineer

A well-established precision engineering business is looking to appoint a Manufacturing Engineer to support and optimise its CNC machining operations. This is a practical, improvement-focused role with real influence across production, quality, and process efficiency.
The RoleReporting to the Operations Manager, you will drive the development and optimisation of manufacturing processes within a CNC environment. You'll be central to continuous improvement initiatives, new product introduction, and ensuring production runs safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain CNC programs to support production demand
* Create and manage Bills of Materials within the MRP system
* Lead structured problem-solving on manufacturing and process issues
* Ensure robust process control, quality standards, and compliance
* Maintain accurate machine setting plans and standard operating procedures
* Support NPI activities, ensuring strong design for manufacture principles
* Implement lean manufacturing techniques, including SMED and value engineering
* Analyse production costs and identify efficiency improvements
* Work closely with planning and quality teams to optimise performance
* Provide technical support to shopfloor teams and support skills development
About You
* Background in a manufacturing or engineering environment
* Strong CNC machining knowledge (lathes and/or vertical mills)
* Experience with CAM software (e.g. Fusion 360 or similar)
* Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles
* Methodical problem-solver with strong attention to detail
* Confident communicator, able to work cross-functionally
Qualifications
* Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or Degree) preferred
* Maths and English to GCSE level (or equivalent)
* Lean manufacturing experience advantageous
