Deputy Lead Radiographer - Mobile X-Ray

Department: Imaging

Band 7 £46, - £52, per annum

Full-time - 37.5 hours per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working.

We are looking for a Radiographer who is a specialist with extensive experience in this modality and who are keen to progress their careers into a Leadership and Management role within our department and who is committed to excellent patient care. There will also be a requirement to participate in the out-of-hours service.

It is an exciting time to join our team at Milton Keynes Imaging Department, we are expanding with a new scanning centre set to open in and two Community Diagnostic Centres at Whitehouse Park and Lloyds Court already in place.

Our Imaging Department has a wide range of imaging modalities and has a Trust wide PACS. Main duties of the job

1. Perform wide range of Trauma, Acute and General (TAG) procedures according to Trust, Departmental and statutory regulations.
2. Provide a high standard of patient care within the specialised area of TAG ensuring a sensitive and courteous approach to all patients.
3. To communicate effectively to ensure the smooth running of the TAG service.
4. To supervise, mentor and coach new team members, junior staff and students working within the TAG department.
5. To deputise and line manage staff in the absence of the Superintendent Radiographer for Main, Outpatients and Mobiles.
6. To ensure a high-quality, safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led TAG service is maintained with patient waiting times kept to a minimum.
7. To acquire knowledge of developments in imaging TAG techniques and to improve and maintain professional expertise via continuous professional development.
8. To ensure correct maintenance and operation of equipment utilised within the working environment.
9. To co-operate with efficient TAG service delivery across the trust (i.e., including acute hospital site, mobile facilities, and community diagnostic centres).
10. Fulfil your contractual working hours commitment by participating in a range of 24/7 rostered shift patterns.

Clinical:

22. To independently undertake a wide range of TAG procedures, ensuring high professional standards of technical competence and patient care are always maintained.

Leadership & management:

24. To offer advice and guidance to patients, carers and other health professionals on radiology procedures, specialised procedures and ionising and non-ionising radiation issues taking due consideration of the patient’s condition.

Teaching, training & research:

25. To participate in the induction and training of new staff, assistant practitioners, and student radiographers.

Professional role responsibilities:

26. Practices in accordance with the professional, ethical, and legal codes of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), the Society of Radiographers Professional Code of Conduct and Trust and NHS protocols and guidelines.

General responsibilities:

27. Demonstrates excellent time management & prioritisation skills; takes responsibility for the management of own work activities and learning.
