Description Costain has been appointed as Delivery Integration Partner by National Highways (NH) for delivery of the £240m improvement of the Simister Island M60/M62/M66 interchange (M60 Junction 18), north of Manchester. As Delivery Integration Partner, Costain will overhaul the busy junction involving complex traffic management to keep tens of thousands of vehicles moving whilst construction takes place. The works consist of: A new free flow ‘northern loop’ link road to take drivers directly from M60 eastbound to M60 southbound without exiting the motorway M66 mainline southbound widening and southbound slip road realignment to allow for construction of the northern loop A widened connector road from M60 northbound to M60 westbound – replacing the current single lane with two lanes Adding an extra lane in each direction on the M60 Junctions 17 to 18 (increasing from 4 to 5 lanes) while retaining the hard shoulders Upgrades to drainage, lighting, motorway technology, signage and signalling.. The Quality Inspector is responsible for managing the independent site inspections. The first line of defence will be by the delivery of on-site training and coaching of the Delivery Team. The second line will be by carrying out inspections of the Works. The role will involve working in a specific area of the project and providing support to other Quality Inspectors across both sections of the project. LI-JK1 Responsibilities The role of Quality Apprentice is to ensure the effective performance of all quality activities against the compliance requirements of projects specifications and standards. Endorse and demonstrate good quality attitudes and behaviours in line with the company policy values. Promote and develop a ‘Right First Time’ culture throughout the project. Support site teams, undertake internal audits and assist with close out actions. Responsibilities Working with the Quality Manager to raise awareness of quality principles and the business quality management system across project and supply chain. Provide guidance and advice to project teams on quality issues. Assisting and supporting with the investigation / resolution of problems / issues and improvements. Engaging with and providing support to Projects to define appropriate quality requirements Ensuring all project documentation is kept up to date in line with overall project status. Attend meetings along with the Quality Manager representing the Quality Assurance Group, providing support to the business for quality related issues. Establishing a good internal working relationship with project personnel at all levels to ensure the effective and efficient completion of all quality related activities. Support with preparing good written reports for Inspections, audits and assisting with regular project Quality updates as determined by the project team. Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety. Promote and maintain a positive quality/safety culture on the project. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Essential Previous experience on a large infrastructure project Previous expeirnece in a similar role Organized individual - can work on multiple projects/sites. Good interpersonal communication skills - comfortable expressing yourself and asking questions. Good time-management skills - can plan out tasks and objectives. Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively in a team. Willingness to develop knowledge/continuously improve. Desirable Microsoft Word and Excel literate. Familiarity with Document storage systems and can navigate through them GCSE English and Maths Full UK Driving Licence
