Overview
Band 6 Specialist Podiatrist. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative podiatrist to work within our Specialist Podiatry Service in Tower Hamlets within community clinics; domiciliary setting and Mile End Hospital. You will be involved daily in our Emergency Clinic Monday to Friday, which provides Gold standard active wound care.

Responsibilities
* Provide specialist podiatric assessment and treatment via a holistic approach to a varied and complex caseload as part of a multidisciplinary community foot health services team.
* Deliver treatment planning for foot complications (e.g., diabetes, vascular/ischaemic long-term conditions) and be part of the foot protection team treating foot ulceration within community health services.
* Participate in nail surgery and ulcer management clinics as required.
* Contribute to the Emergency Clinic activities (Gold standard active wound care), and support in planning and delivering services to improve care, experience and outcomes.
Qualifications
* Essential: BSc (Pod) or equivalent; One year's postgraduate work experience; Current HCPC registration.
* Desirable: Postgraduate qualification; Current UK driving licence.
Experience
* Essential: Postgraduate work experience with high-risk patients and diabetics; experience of clinics with complex and varied pathologies; ability to create and follow treatment plans and liaise with other professionals.
* Desirable: Experience managing stock within a budget.
Knowledge and Skills
* Advanced hands-on experience in treatment of high-risk patients.
* Maintain equipment/machinery and ensure COSHH-compliant storage of pharmacy stocks.
* Manage a week-to-week domiciliary caseload and administer according to department guidelines.
* Develop and implement specialized individual treatment plans and obtain patient consent for surgical interventions as required; communicate clearly and consider cultural factors.
* Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently in primary and secondary care settings (hospital clinics, ward rounds, community clinics, GP practices, residential homes, patients' homes, Mental Health units).
Personal and People Development
* Support administration staff; participate in Clinical Governance initiatives; contribute to departmental policies and procedures; assist in managing and implementing change.
* Desirable: Supervise foot-care assistants and students; assist in education and mentoring of junior staff.
Communication
* Attend monthly podiatry team meetings and locality multidisciplinary meetings; review patient progress and refer as necessary; maintain patient notes in line with Trust requirements.
Other requirements
* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act requirements.
* UK registration: Current UK professional registration required.
